Khabib Nurmagomedov wants Floyd Mayweather Jr Fight

UFC champ Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team have begun to prepare for the upcoming title fight in the lightweight division against Tony Ferguson. However, thereafter, all energies will be directed to preparing for a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr, the undefeated boxing champ who took on Connor McGregor and walked away with another win to his record.
It is expected that Khabib Nurmagomedov will enter the ring against Mayweather JR for an 11 round fight using standard boxing rules and one round using standard MMA rules. To date, Floyd Mayweather Jr, or as many call him, “Mr Money” has yet to lose a professional fight in his career. It is a feat not many can lay claim to, and at 42 few others have the ability to enter the ring still and perform at the levels required to be competitive, let alone win fights.

Khabib Nurmagomedov, also undefeated in his MMA career is expected to give Mayweather JR a healthy dose of completion. However, Mayweather is superior in the ring and understands how to go the distance. That was a skill that was lacking in Connor McGregor, and Nurmagomedov will most likely feel the challenges of others who have come before him and may very lose the fight as a result, much like McGregor did.

While speaking on his upcoming fight against Ferguson, Khabib Nurmagomedov addressed questions relating to his desire to fight Mayweather. Commenting, Nurmagomedov stated, “Mayweather has statistics on fights of 50 wins and zero losses, he is the greatest in boxing. He wants to fight with the same champion who did not lose a single fight, Khabib, everything is fine, but now we have Tony Ferguson on the line. We said a long time ago: let us finish with Tony, after that we will work with the team of Ukrainian boxer Vasily Lomachenko for six months, then there will be a boxing fight. We offer any day anywhere, with only one condition – 11 rounds in boxing and one in mixed martial arts.”

If Khabib Nurmagomedov is successful against Ferguson, he will improve his MMA professional record to 29-0, which while impressive, pales in comparison to Mayweather’s 50-0 record. While Mayweather is officially retired, he had agreed to fight the Nurmagomedov, a bout that was cancelled by Dana White, however, the fight is still being discussed with White after Mayweather announced he would come out of retirement to fight in the octagon.
