Khabib Nurmagomedov Committed To Conor Mcgregor’s Destruction

After recent comments from both the McGregor’s coach Owen Roddy, as well as “The Eagle” Khabib Nurmagomedov himself, the possibility of a fight between the controversial “Notorious” Conor McGregor, a former two-division champ and Khabib the current UFC lightweight champion, is becoming increasingly likely towards the end of this year. Khabib previously stated that he was confident he would be able to honour his vow to humble, McGregor. With assistance from his translator Bloody Elbow, Nurmagomedov spoke to Sport 24.ru saying that despite not knowing in which round it would happen, he would destroy McGregor in their upcoming fight. With his potent track record of 26 undefeated professional fights and being one of the best grapplers in MMA, due to his style, “The Eagle” is considered one of the toughest possible matchups for McGregor in the current lightweight division.

McGregor An Established Elite Striker

Having built a similarly enviable winning track record, in contrast, McGregor established hi
mself as an elite striker possessing undeniable knockdown and knockout power, seemingly presents the greatest hazard to Nurmagomedov’s streak of undefeated fights.
If this fight ever realises, the contrast between the personalities and fighting styles between two of the best combatants could potentially set the stage for one of the greatest rivalries in the history of the MMA. Despite enormous efforts from both camps to turn this lightweight, super fight into a reality, there are still long odds against it ever happening.

Khabib said he does not yet know who his opponent will be, but the fight would most likely happen in Las Vegas. He said he wants to fight McGregor and hopes Conor also wants the fight, while MMA fans also root for the fight to happen. Nurmagomedov also said that Connor previously had a lot to say and now for some reason fell silent at the time real negotiations for the fight should start.

“The Eagle” also revealed that his target date for the first defence of his title is set for September or October this year and will most likely serve as the main event at UFC 228 or 229.

McGregor Camp Still to Reveal Return Date

Owen Roddy, McGregor’s coach, let slip to MMAnytt there might be a strong possibility of the showdown occurring sometime during late fall. He went on to say that Conor wanted the biggest fights he could possibly get and that Khabib would currently present just such an opportunity. Stating that he was certain they were building towards a successful negotiation.

In response, Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz tweeted that Conor had lost two out of his last four fights and according to Ali, “The Eagle” believes he “Notorious” does not deserve a chance at the title and is in it after the money.

The McGregor camp has still not revealed his return date to the cage. They would possibly wait till after his court appearance to enter his plea on the pending criminal mischief and assault charges against him on 26 July before making any such revelations, as the MMA currently banned him from competing until the outcome of the hearing.
