Kamaru Usman’s Next Fight Announced

The Ultimate Fighting Championships President, Dana White, announced one of the most anticipated bouts for 2020. It was confirmed that UFC Organizers are close to finalizing contract negotiations with Kamaru Usman & Gilbert Burns, prompting Dana White to ensure that both men will compete on December 12th at UFC 256. ESPN first reported this announcement.

Dana White had promised UFC supporters that these two Welterweight competitors would resume their postponed bout. The COVID-19 pandemic forced Dana White to postpone their previous engagement, which was slated for July 11th at UFC 251 on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Their fight was terminated after Gilbert Burns tested positive for the novel coronavirus. In replacement of Burns came Jorge Masvidal, who lost brutally against Kamaru Usman.

UFCs President confirmed that the Kamaru Usman & Gilbert Burns fight would take place alongside the highly desired match-up of Amanda Nunes versus Megan Anderson. These ladies will compete for the Featherweight Championship Belt, with the headlining men battling for the Welterweight Championship Belt.

MMA Analysts anticipate that Kamaru Usman will stand victorious over Gilbert Burns, with the Nigerian Nightmare standing at a 12-0 Record in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Standing victorious over Burns would mean Kamaru defending his belt for the 3rd time. It was marked the longest momentum behind the Welterweight Championship since Tyron Woodley in March 2019.

It’s not surprising that Dana White would reschedule the fight between Burns & Usman, with both men standing as some of the hottest UFC fighters for 2020. Kamaru “The Nigerian Nightmare” Usman was a former lightweight contender that outpaced the likes of McGregor & Nurmagomedov. He hasn’t been knocked down since losing against Dan Hooker in July 2018, where Usman quickly rose back up, but referees called off the fight. Sustaining 24+ months since being knocked down is a UFC record.

Masvidal Not Getting Usman Rematch

UFC President Dana White confirmed that he wouldn’t reschedule another fight between Kamaru Usman & Jorge Masvidal. Nate Diaz is instead being helmed to enter the 2nd fight against Jorge “Gamebred BMF” Masvidal. This means that the 3rd rematch between Diaz and McGregor is unlikely. With this announcement, Dana White has changed the UFCs 2020 plans tenfold.
