Jimi began training MMA in 2007 after a lifting incident. He currently trains at Keddles Gym with Alan Keddle and Dino Miringou and at Nova Forca BJJ with Ricardo Da Silva. Manuwa has yet to have a fight go to a Judges decision so far in his MMA Career. Manuwa has fought for the UCMMA and has been crowned the promotion’s champion. He has successfully defended his title 5 times, more than any past or present fighter in UCMMA. Shortly after his success Manuwa declined a contract from the UFC, feeling it wasn’t the right time in his career to accept it. Manuwa did state that the UFC is his ultimate goal, and then again declined another offer to fight at UFC 138 because of his time off. Manuwa felt yet again, it wasn’t proper timing to join the UFC. He decided to join fight promotion BAMMA. He won his first fight via-knockout. In of 2011 Jimi signed with the UFC. He made his UFC debut against TUF 8 contestant Kyle Kingsbury. Manuwa won after 2 rounds by TKO due to doctor stoppage. The stoppage was declared after Kingsbury’s eye had swollen shut due to a broken orbital. Manuwa has successfully began his career with in the UFC. Manuwa has stand up power like Mike Tyson, and is on the rise to be the next big name within the UFC.
