Firas Zahabi

As a fighter, Firas Zahabi won numerous titles, but as a trainer, he has produced even more world-class MMA fighters. During his fighting career, Firas was the undefeated two-time Canadian Champion in Muay Thai, two-time Provincial Freestyle Wrestling Gold Medalist, and Canadian Full Contact Jiu-Jitsu Champion in both the Lightweight and Absolute divisions. However, it wasn’t long before he found himself in the MMA training role at TriStar Gym in Montreal. His pursuit of becoming a fighter quickly evaporated as he discovered his gift for producing some of the world’s top fighters.

Using his extensive experience as a fighter and trainer has helped Firas develop specific MMA training protocols. His training theory is centered on short, high intensity training sessions that are highly calculated, but not bizarre. His methodical, yet common sense approach to training continues to produce lethal fighters in the cage and has landed him the reputation as the “top trainer in the MMA community.” He presently serves as the head coach for the current UFC Welterweight Champion, Georges St.-Pierre and UFC featherweight fighter, Kenny Florian.

Firas has continued to train at TriStar gym, a Montreal-based martial arts center that is the home to other world-class MMA fighters including Davis Loiseu, Denis Kang and Miguel Torres. What started as a small martial arts studio in 1991 has expanded into a 13,500 square foot modern training facility and MMA champion breeding ground.
