Bellator vs UFC – Who Will Receive the Most Views?

It’s an understatement to believe that the UFC is one of the most watched fighting performances worldwide. Since the organisation has a deal with FOX to stream their fights and view them on paper view, thousands of loyal fans have been tuning in for the matches. Although, Bellator, a rival MMA organisation is trying to make waves and become a viewing and rating threat for the UFC.

Bellator’s quest to find a source to stream their fights has gained even more attention this previous Tuesday as the figureheads announced an extremely lavish deal (which is estimated to be near nine figures) and yearly deal with DANZ to stream the upcoming fights.

DANZ is a highly popular sports streaming company that is prevalent in Canada, Switzerland, Japan, Austria, Italy, and Germany. Although, the deal will become active on September 29th with the matches between Gegard Mousasi and Rory MacDonald – the former will be defending his middleweight belt from the latter. Additionally, the highly anticipated match between the well-known heavyweights Wanderlei Silva and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. The opening matches will be the predecessor to the upcoming welterweight Grand Prix that will include at least eight fighters.

Along with the already announced streaming list, DANZ has added in that at least seven exclusive fight cards will be broadcasted on cable as well, meaning that U.S waters may be able to catch a glimpse of one or a few of the fifteen fight cards. U.S fans should not worry as they will be able to see live broadcast as the fights as well thanks to the preexisting contract between Bellator and Paramount Network.

While surpassing the UFC is an ideal goal, a chief executive from Perform Media, the parent company if the rapidly growing DANZ has stated that the current incentive is to become equals with the UFC. If anything, the deal is seen more to benefit Bellator along with DANZ, where Bellator will finally have a chance to truly challenge the UFC and showcase the recently added talent to Bellator, along with DANZ become more prominent.

DANZ is already creating the path for itself as it is striving to be the Next of sports broadcasting. It is assumed that the monthly subscription to use their services will range anywhere from $10 to $15, which would be expensive yet fair as DANZ is waiting on new contracts to stream additional sports, such as boxing along with sports-related television series.

While the prices may steer some viewers away, there has been recent data studies which clearly shows that the will to purchase paper view packages is decreasing, the price seems to constantly rise. DANZ has been poking at the idea of creating a space where loyal sports fans can watch their favourite matches live or previous recordings without having to purchase each one separately.

While the likelihood is Bellator beating or matching with the UFC in regards to ratings is slowly increasing, the help of DANZ along with featuring previous UFC fighters in the upcoming lineup is showing a higher hope that this dream will become a reality and the UFC has met its match.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Committed To Conor Mcgregor’s Destruction

Khabib Nurmagomedov Committed To Conor Mcgregor’s Destruction

After recent comments from both the McGregor’s coach Owen Roddy, as well as “The Eagle” Khabib Nurmagomedov himself, the possibility of a fight between the controversial “Notorious” Conor McGregor, a former two-division champ and Khabib the current UFC lightweight champion, is becoming increasingly likely towards the end of this year. Khabib previously stated that he was confident he would be able to honour his vow to humble, McGregor. With assistance from his translator Bloody Elbow, Nurmagomedov spoke to Sport saying that despite not knowing in which round it would happen, he would destroy McGregor in their upcoming fight. With his potent track record of 26 undefeated professional fights and being one of the best grapplers in MMA, due to his style, “The Eagle” is considered one of the toughest possible matchups for McGregor in the current lightweight division.

McGregor An Established Elite Striker

Having built a similarly enviable winning track record, in contrast, McGregor established hi
mself as an elite striker possessing undeniable knockdown and knockout power, seemingly presents the greatest hazard to Nurmagomedov’s streak of undefeated fights.
If this fight ever realises, the contrast between the personalities and fighting styles between two of the best combatants could potentially set the stage for one of the greatest rivalries in the history of the MMA. Despite enormous efforts from both camps to turn this lightweight, super fight into a reality, there are still long odds against it ever happening.

Khabib said he does not yet know who his opponent will be, but the fight would most likely happen in Las Vegas. He said he wants to fight McGregor and hopes Conor also wants the fight, while MMA fans also root for the fight to happen. Nurmagomedov also said that Connor previously had a lot to say and now for some reason fell silent at the time real negotiations for the fight should start.

“The Eagle” also revealed that his target date for the first defence of his title is set for September or October this year and will most likely serve as the main event at UFC 228 or 229.

McGregor Camp Still to Reveal Return Date

Owen Roddy, McGregor’s coach, let slip to MMAnytt there might be a strong possibility of the showdown occurring sometime during late fall. He went on to say that Conor wanted the biggest fights he could possibly get and that Khabib would currently present just such an opportunity. Stating that he was certain they were building towards a successful negotiation.

In response, Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz tweeted that Conor had lost two out of his last four fights and according to Ali, “The Eagle” believes he “Notorious” does not deserve a chance at the title and is in it after the money.

The McGregor camp has still not revealed his return date to the cage. They would possibly wait till after his court appearance to enter his plea on the pending criminal mischief and assault charges against him on 26 July before making any such revelations, as the MMA currently banned him from competing until the outcome of the hearing.

CM Punk Did He Deserve MMA Stripes?

CM Punk Did He Deserve MMA Stripes?

Mixed Martial Arts is a sport in which action takes place without the assistance of teammates or timeouts to stall the pitching momentum of the opponent. Previous victories, mostly or often magnified by current failures and it takes guts, courage and determination to rise to the top.

Courage is something most fans takes for granted in the MMA fighters. CM Punk wasn’t a fighter two years ago, yet the multi-millionaire was out to satisfy his competitive side. Obviously, there are many ways to achieve this, although he decided to step into the cage to face an opponent. He not only wanted to compete, he desired it the hard way, a lesson he might regret now. If he does it is not showing as he remains steadfast in his quest, his persistence is astounding and well worthy of admiration.

CM Punk Most Certainly Earned His MMA Stipes

Despite many believing that CM Punk did not deserve the opportunity to fight in the MMA premier promotion, the fact remains that he has proven himself as a UFC level fighter. The UFC show was bound to draw a much larger audience due to his participation. The question remained how many would be on his side, although he might have won over thousands due to his willingness and courage to try again.

His week of training was everything but focussed since he also had to deal with a multi-million-dollar lawsuit, which he won, although it had a major impact on his concentration that should be purely on cutting weight and training. It is most certainly not how he wanted to spend his time, as the major life event got dangerously close.

Maybe by winning the lawsuit, his week or circumstances improved, the result decided in the hardest way. With the audience being nothing but unforgiving CM Punk faced quite a difficult Saturday. But, would most be wrong as his courage, persistence and never-giving-up frame of mind is what earned him his MMA stripes.

Punk Didn’t Have Enough for Mike Jackson

CM Punk failed against Mike Jackson and had a standing ovation from hometown as entered the cage to fight. CM Punk looked out of his league even though he did put a lot of heart in his fight. But as he tired, Mike Jackson had no mercy and turned up the heat. Still CM Punk showed just how tough he is in going the distance, while his opponent showed no urgency to finish and completely controlled the last minutes. Jackson said he was not as relaxed or cool as normal since Illinois doesn’t allow marijuana.

Chuck Liddell May Join Golden Boy Promotions

Chuck Liddell May Join Golden Boy Promotions

In 2010, after suffering multiple knockout losses, the banner child of the UFC, Chuck Liddell retired from fighting. For Dana White, a long-time friend of Liddell’s, it was a relief and one he urged the prize fighter to do and one that saw Liddell leave the cage and head into the management side of the business.

After the sale of the UFC to WME-IMG and the victim of corporate downsizing. Liddell found himself out of a job, one that he loved. Talk began about a comeback, and for Liddell, that meant signing with a new promotion team, one that found him in discussions to fight Tito Ortiz with none other than Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.

Liddell, in a recent interview, stated,

“You know, when we had the meeting, I thought[De La Hoya was talking about doing a one-off. And we got an interview with him and he was like, ‘Yeah, no, I want to start an MMA promotion.’ We haven’t had any further talks on that yet, but we will be talking.”

It is that statement that has his long-time friend hopeful that his friend will remain in retirement and that his interest in working with De La Hoys promotional company is one based on business, not sport. White stated that he is hoping Liddell will go into business with De La Hoya, and not fight.

However, it seems that Liddell has different feelings and while he may go into business with De La Hoya in the future, this deal is all about coming out of retirement to face Ortiz once again. He even went so far as to say, “I will fight again.”

Liddell also commented during the interview that,

“I miss it. I never stopped missing I, I hadn’t really thought about it much, and when Tito brought it up and we started to get going – I started training, I started doing stuff again, getting ready to try to take this on – it made me go, ‘You know what? What if he pulls out? Am I not going to fight? Am I going to do all this and not fight? Oh no, we’ve got to have somebody to back it up.’ If it doesn’t work out with him, I’m going to give it a shot. It’ll be somebody else. One of the guys from my past, most likely. And we’ll see where I’m at.”

Dana White Not Confident in De La Hoya

While Liddell may have confidence in Oscar De La Hoya, for Dana White, he feels the “golden boy” isn’t the brightest saying,

“I don’t know what he’s thinking. Hopefully Chuck’s going to be his business partner and not fight. The last thing I want to do is sh-t on Chuck Liddell, because I love him, but I asked him to retire 10 years ago for a reason.”

Liddell on the other hand, Liddell and White have not spoken about his intention to return to fighting but White is happy to make his feelings know, as President of the UFC, and as a friend. At this stage, there is not anything firm on the possible bout between Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell.
